“Color directly influences the soul. Color is the keyboard, the eyes are the hammers, the soul is the piano with many strings. The artist is the hand that plays, touching one key or another purposively, to cause vibrations in the soul.” (Wassily Kandinsky, Concerning the Spiritual in Art)
Color Theory explores the “power still unknown but real” that color has upon human perception and emotion. Portraits are styled around concepts within color theory – complements, triads, temperature, etc. – and constructed with deliberate expression by the subject of their conceptions of the colors inhabited.
