Curtain Calls features portraits made in collaboration with performers of all stripes. Drawing upon improv traditions, the subject is given a series of prompts and their responses are photographed in the stylized setting of a spotlight and stage curtains.
The project’s emphasis is upon the active role the subject plays in the creation of portraiture and upon capturing and conveying the personality of the individual performers. The titles of the individual works are based on the prompt to which the subject was responding.
